Quick Questions with Jason Rowland: USA Account Executive

When he's not hiking, kayaking or dreaming about scuba diving with great white sharks, Jason Rowland is our USA-based account executive here at SwipedOn. We caught up with Jason for a quick fire round of questions to learn more about him and what a day in SwipedOn life is like in Austin, Texas.

What does a day in the life of you at SwipedOn look like?

I start the day by reaching out to clients that have started free trials to answer any questions they may have or explain the pricing plans. I also respond to any customers that come through the SwipedOn customer support portal and try to help them through their technical difficulties. My favorite part of the day is running demos for clients - they're always amazed at how sleek and simple our visitor management software is.

What do you like about working at SwipedOn?

I was born and raised in Texas where we take southern hospitality to the next level. During the onboarding process in New Zealand I was blown away, because Ill be damned if Kiwi's aren't the friendliest people on earth. I'd say what I like most about working with SwipedOn is exercising my new found Kiwi Professionalism as they call it in Tauranga.

What do you particularly like about what we’re doing with SwipedOn?

I like the sustainability of our product. We are doing away with the paper visitor book and cutting down on the amount of lumber consumed in the modern office. On top of that SwipedOn has pledged to plant a tree for every new client we acquire. Can't wait to get out and plant some in Austin.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

1. Making
2. Clients
3. Happy

What is your SwipedOn screensaver?

I've travelled quite a bit in the past few years, so I've included a few of my favorite photos from my journeys. A waterfall in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The Great pyramids of Giza. And just to stay grounded a photo of home - the Austin skyline.

What did you do in your previous working life?

  • SnoWorries: I opened and ran a snow cone stand with my older brother at the beach in Florida.
  • LeadAbroad: I led 120 students on a study abroad program in Barcelona. Essentially a glorified babysitter/tour guide!
  • All Star Containers: I was an account executive and helped clients transform shipping containers into whatever they could dream up (tiny homes, offices, garages, and even a veterinarian office)

What do you do in your free time?

Travel, hike, kayak, paddle board, lift weights, boat, practice photography, cook, listen to live music, eat good food and drink good beer!

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

1. Travel to each continent
2. Start a non-profit organization
3. Scuba with great white sharks

What’s on your SwipedOn playlist?

Indie/alternative rock, electronic music, classic rock, oldies!

If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the SwipedOn team to come with you, who would you take and why?

Saskia Van Zijp - when I was in New Zealand she took Luke and I mountain biking at the Rotorua Red Woods. I forgot to eat breakfast and she took notice that I was struggling. She has 3 kids and her mom instincts came out. I'd never starve on this deserted island because apparently she has an endless supply of granola bars stashed away!

Let’s end this with a weird fact about you…

My birthday is May 18, 1996. My dads birthday is May 18, 1969. Every couple of years our ages will flip. For example, when I turn 25 my pops will turn 52. He calls me the gift that keeps on taking...
