What does a day in the life of you at SwipedOn look like?

If the weather's good enough I'll bike or scooter in as I live pretty close to the office. First I'll check my email, respond to any urgent ones and prioritize tasks for the day. This typically includes analyzing our different marketing channels to see where we can optimize, what's working well and what isn't, across our key regions 🌎

A few games of ping pong throughout the day are essential for umm... mental breaks 🏓. Lunchtime gym sessions are often on the cards unless the team are heading out somewhere for lunch that's too good to miss 🍔

What do you like about working at SwipedOn?

It's got a really good balance of fun/humour and getting sh*t done 📈 There's a great workplace culture of flexibility and support which is driven from the top down. The people are awesome - good at what they do and fun to work with 🧡 (we couldn't agree more!)

What do you particularly like about what we’re doing with SwipedOn?

We're making workplaces better. People spend a lot of their lives at work so I think it's very cool to play a part in making that time more enjoyable for them.

What did you do in your previous working life?

I studied and worked as an automation engineer in South Africa and NZ for a number of different companies. I have always enjoyed automation and efficiency but found that there wasn't a lot of work-life balance in the industry, and a lot of people were unhappy and stressed

An opportunity came up to join a marketing agency to help with analytics, CRM automation, and reporting. It was my first introduction to digital marketing and after seeing what was possible I was hooked. I joined the company and with it being an agency I was exposed to whole a range of digital marketing activities. I was able to cut my teeth on the different platforms and techniques but always found myself drawn back to the analytics and conversion rate optimization activities which I get to focus primarily on here at SwipedOn.

Another bonus of working in this industry was that my partner and I were able to spend 3 months working remotely from Bali. Talk about work-life balance 🍹 🌴

What do you do in your free time?

I love to get outdoors for adventures and activities so anything like rock climbing 🧗‍♀️ surfing, fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking 🚵🏻‍♀️ Going away for weekends with our caravan is always a good option, especially when we can bring along our french bulldog Evie 🐶

I also love board games so when the weather's not good, playing Settlers or Catan by the fire is a winner.

If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the SwipedOn team to come with you, who would you take and why?

Gotta be De Wet. He's the only other South African in the office so wouldn't want to leave him alone. Plus I'd finally be able to learn Afrikaans and between the two of us we'd be able to make a braai every day until somebody comes to rescue us 🍗
