Quick Questions with Adam: Cloud Developer

When he's not playing guitar, listening to progressive rock or trying to find a purpose for touching the tip of his nose with his tongue, Adam is our cloud developer here at SwipedOn. We caught up with Adam for a quickfire round of questions to learn more about him.

What does a day in the life of you at SwipedOn look like?

I get in pretty early, make myself a coffee, and use the quiet space to move further on whatever I was working on the day before. I'll take a break from my work intermittently to play some ping-pong. At lunchtime I usually like to have a strum on a guitar.

What do you like about working at SwipedOn?

I'm working on the product and I get to use my noggin. There's usually a bunch of things to balance whenever you're writing code that gets used by customers, so it's always interesting finding edge cases and thinking - 'what haven't I thought of?'

What do you particularly like about what we’re doing with SwipedOn?

I like that we're a company with a startup feel in a pretty cool spot where we are all encouraged to have a good work / life balance.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

1. Semicolons
2. Quotation-marks
3. Commas

What is your SwipedOn screensaver?

Blank screen...

What did you do in your previous working life?

I used to work at Xero in Wellington and Auckland, and before that I was at IBM in a non- technical role.

What do you do in your free time?

Play guitar, go for heaps of walks (my partner and I just got a dog), and have existential crises about the imminent baby that'll arrive in January.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

1. Write a bucket list 2. ..... 3. ...

What’s on your SwipedOn playlist?

I mostly enjoy progressive rock, so right now I'm working my way through a playlist that spotify has kindly made me with all sorts of artists I've never heard of.

If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the SwipedOn team to come with you, who would you take and why?

Kev so we could have some nice jams to kill the time.

Let’s end this with a weird fact about you…

I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue. I'm still waiting for the moment to arrive where that becomes even slightly useful in real life.
