When he's not dreaming about a New Zealand South Island trip or watching the Black Caps win the World Cup, Hamish is our front end developer here at SwipedOn. We caught up with Hamish to find out what a day in the life at SwipedOn is like for him.
What does a day in the life of you at SwipedOn look like?
Get into the office, grab a coffee and work out some sort of plan of attack for the day. Attend any meetings and then get on with it. My day normally consists of a good amount of badgering the other devs for some help with anything that I'm currently stuck on and then trying to get on and work through my tasks.
What do you like about working at SwipedOn?
Great atmosphere in the office, a friendly, supportive team that's doing great work and heaps of good banter.
What do you particularly like about what we’re doing with SwipedOn?
Reacting quickly and creatively to the current global situation, adding features that have a real benefit to our end users.
What three words would you use to describe your role?
What is your SwipedOn screensaver?
Some Fortnite image that my kids set.
What did you do in your previous working life?
I was a primary school teacher for a long time, both in NZ and the UK. As a kid I spent many years employed as a paperboy and raspberry picker.
What do you do in your free time?
Recently, I have been spending a lot of time mountain-biking with family and friends. I also enjoy doing a bit of running and any other outdoor activities. I have two sons who I try my hardest to keep up with.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
1. A massive South Island holiday
2. Own a classic car
3. Watch the Black Caps win the world cup.
What’s on your SwipedOn playlist?
Anything but pop. I'm a 90's grunge guy at heart so plenty of Pavement, Buffalo Tom, Dinosaur Jr.
If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the SwipedOn team to come with you, who would you take and why?
. He proudly wears his Bunnings cap so I'm assuming he'd be handy at rustling up some shelter and generally being a pretty practical guy.
Let's end this with a weird fact about you...
Colourblindness. Not that it bothers me but I never know what colours I'm wearing.
